Actress Judy Prescott is one of nearly fifteen million Alzheimer’s family caregivers in the United States who has experienced the difficulty of caring for a person with this disease – her mother, Cecy.
In this webinar, Prescott gracefully gives voice to the caregiver’s inner life in a way that provides catharsis and encouragement. Her book, Searching for Cecy: Reflections On Alzheimer’s, collects the twenty-nine poems that she wrote over an eight-year period as her mother’s condition progressed and as her own perspective evolved. She offers poignant, intimate verse – a breath of fresh air and solace to those facing the challenges of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. She charts an emotional journey through the eyes of a daughter. Each poem is matched with striking artwork contributed by family artists in honor of their beloved Cecy.
Prescott began reading her poetry publicly fifteen years ago in Los Angeles where she currently lives with her husband and daughter. A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
